Foundry Quality Has the Right Mix of People, Processes and Technology
Kirsh is diverse enough to care about low-volume business and has the technology to ensure your quality matches Fortune 500 expectations.
Choosing a low-volume foundry partner does not require settling for low quality.
Quality is an expectation at Kirsh Foundry, a family-run foundry in operation since the 1930s. A foundry will not stay around long nor attract the top customers Kirsh does without repeatedly delivering quality castings. Our return rate is less than one percent, well below the industry average, due to the quality measures implemented throughout the entire manufacturing process.
Every step of the process involves quality, starting before production even begins.
Whether building new tooling or adapting existing tooling from another foundry, a rigorous process ensures castings meet customer requirements. A dedicated Kirsh team reviews casting requirements and designs the new tool or modifies an existing one to meet them. Samples are then produced and reports on adherence to dimensional, material, and soundness specifications are generated. Production only begins when the customer signs off that all requirements have been met.
In addition to being ISO 9001 certified, Kirsh holds quality certification from several top manufacturers. Every customer benefits from the processes of discerning Fortune 500 companies.
Each operator in the production process has a detailed set of written and visual instructions on the screen at their station. Each operator performs quality checks as the castings are processed. Our tracking and data analysis system records the results.
That system — called Odyssey by B & L — captures a broad range of data. By constantly tracking production, scrap, output, maintenance, sales data, and hundreds of other measures, any issues can be corrected as castings are produced so defective parts do not find their way to customers. Data is also analyzed daily to look for opportunities to improve.
Any parts that are returned by customers are studied by our senior vice president of quality control with 35 years of experience and our process engineer. A corrective action is developed to ensure the defect does not reoccur. Those corrective actions are implemented appropriately.
Kirsh is unique in its ability to deliver personal service to every customer, yet with a quality system that equals larger foundries. Processes are backed by statistics and our work to continuously improve our quality. Our experienced people oversee quality every step of the way to ensure every job meets each customer’s expectations.
