We recently received tooling from a customer that included the 300-lb. core box you see below. The customer asked if we could adapt the current box to save the cost of building a new one. The Kirsh Tooling Design/Build Team took a unique approach to fulfill the customer’s request for cost savings while still providing production efficiency

The team dismounted one of the four impressions, used that to design a CAD file for a single-cavity core box, and then milled the box from urethane. That allowed the impression to be mounted in a smaller and more efficient core box. The new core box also was only 25% of the cost of producing a duplicate of the original.
